Huckberry to Locate New Logistics Operation in Columbus
Huckberry, Inc., an independent online retailer and magazine for men’s apparel, gear and travel, has announced plans to locate a new fulfillment and logistics operation in Columbus, Ohio.
The company is expanding in an effort to centralize its warehouse operations, as well as its finance/accounting and customer experience/fraud departments.
Huckberry plans to invest $240,000 towards training, machinery, and equipment, and plans to add 158 jobs beginning in third quarter 2016. Huckberry’s new building, which is located near the Rickenbacker International Airport in Columbus, is the company’s first expansion outside of its headquarters in San Francisco.
“I know firsthand that Columbus is one of the leading retail markets in the country,” said Richard Greiner, co-founder of Huckberry. “Columbus is also in a prime location for distribution to much of our audience, which combined with its experienced and vibrant work force, made this decision a no brainer for us.”
Huckberry already has strong relationships with top retailers and key suppliers, Greiner noted, and many of them provided counsel during the company’s location decision and encouraged them to look at Columbus.
Launched in 2011, Huckberry offers versatile apparel that blends performance and fashion. Each week Huckberry offers its customers a curated selection of products and experiences gathered from urban and outdoor lifestyle brands.
“We are pleased to welcome Huckberry into Columbus, adding to the roster of Columbus region companies driving growth and innovation in retail and ecommerce,” said Mayor Andrew J. Ginther. “Columbus is home to a growing number of young and rising retail brands and we’re excited to add Huckberry to that list.”
