Custom Inc., a leading logistics company, has officially commenced construction on its state-of-the-art Multimodal Distribution Facility in Longview, Texas, with a ceremonial “Golden Spike” event. The new facility, strategically located on a 175-acre site near Interstate-20, will connect with Union Pacific Railroad and is set to become a pivotal hub for the efficient transloading of a wide range of commodities and finished products.

The facility is designed to handle thousands of railcars and trucks annually, with a maximum capacity exceeding 630 railcars. Expected to be operational within 12 months, the Longview Multimodal Distribution Facility will provide comprehensive services, including bulk and packaged product transfers, storage, warehousing, and rail car/trailer washing. It will support various industries, from packaging and plastics recycling to chemicals.

David L. Stevenson, Owner of Custom Inc., expressed his enthusiasm for the project and its potential impact on both the local economy and the company’s growth. “Our team is committed to delivering exceptional customer service and ensuring a safe workplace. This facility also demonstrates our dedication to the Longview region by creating high-paying construction and permanent operating jobs,” Stevenson said.

Union Pacific Railroad, a key partner in the project, highlighted the environmental and economic benefits of the new terminal. “This facility will provide local businesses with access to rail, the most environmentally responsible way to transport freight over land, while also driving regional economic growth,” said Dan McLaughlin, Assistant Vice President of Marketing & Sales Operations for Union Pacific.

The groundbreaking event was attended by company executives, local dignitaries, and business partners, all of whom celebrated the future contributions of the Longview Multimodal Distribution Facility to the logistics industry and the local community.
